How do you train your infant to sleep through the night?

Re: How do you train your infant to sleep through the night?

Sahar, we had our laddoo sleeping through the night 7 nights out of 10 by the time she was 3.5 months. The secret is routine, routine, routine. Go through the routine at the same time every night and put her down. For the first 3 months, if she wakes up crying, go to her and comfort her. After 3 months, however, you have to start letting her cry it out. Let her cry for 5 minutes, then comfort her, if she starts again, let her cry for 10 minutes, then comfort her, keep adding 5 minutes. This is the Ferber method.

Worked for us. Now, at 17 months, and she's been doing this since she was 15 months, she KNOWS it's her bedtime at 7:30 PM and she climbs up the stairs, points to her crib and says "neenee" and 9/10 nights sleeps for 12 hours straight. Just form a routine and STICK to it.
