The word is used quiet often but I believe just like other general purpose words like 'Liberal', 'Conservative' or 'Democracy' .. everyone has their own little interpretation of it.

What i find ironic is that the ones who define Islamists are the ones that didnt even know what Islam was until 3 years ago. My how ignorant are now the very voice of Islam.
I think i first heard the term Islamist being used by Lou Dobbs of CNN.
The media has used the term mostly for news items like "Islamist terrorists in have claimed responsibility for bombin of ". Because of this the term has had negative connotations associated with the faith of Islam.
Personally dont like using the term as much as I wouldnt like using Judaist or Catholicist (which dont exist yet).
5abi its simple. Its like watching CNN and all these bloody "Islamic" Scholars and "Islamic Terrorism experts". Isnt it ironic that the like of Chomsky, Espisito and the guy at haverford are never called on to give their opinions, even though they each have 30 years of experience on Islam and Political Islam.
