if we sold it, it would sell at about 450k. we didnt buy it for that much as it was a "handyman special", needed SO much work that my dad called it "almost unlivable" lol! but anyway, 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths (2 toilets but only one shower/tub), no basement, no formal dining room, nice sized yard...but heck you'd think half a million would buy more than THAT yeah? taxes are currently about 12-14 thou per year too.

Texas sounds mighty fine! Yet I still have a soft spot in my heart for wyoming...land of the cowboys and roaming free....if only there were hotshot trading floors in either of these areas for us to work in lol

mama aint dem taxes a killer, I get so fumingly mad at bleeding hearts who dont understand the burden on tax payers via property taxes for suporting illegals health and education. sadly counties are so large and have a number of school districts so even if u live in a better area, some other area will kill ya.

That's about the same cost of a median 3 bedroom house here in the UK too.

oh yeah you bet she does, its not a unique situation, look up county tax rates and then see home values and figure it out. while home prices are going down, our county infomred us that our house was assessed at yet a higher value again so our taxes will be going up.

actually I dont have a problem with W, so thats irrelevant, I actually dont like dixie chicks much, but that too is due to their music and not their politics.
I just dont like small minded folks which i tend to find in texas a lot more than other places.
not like west coast or north east. and a fe islands of sanity in between.

Wow 3.23 is pretty low for the tax rate. I think ours is 6.5. I think or 5.6%

Mamaof3, what area are you in? The city and the Long Island area, the prices have really shot up. But I guess fixer-uppers could be had for around that price.
