Re: How are you feeling today
Sure, the environment, circumstances, even the weather controls our temperament and attitude, but our mind is like a computer...we have all the ability to program it to work the way we want it to.
Making a conscious effort to be in control of our emotions is the mark of a stable mind.
People who work in funeral homes have a choice to work there. If the environment is pulling them down so much, they can change careers. A friend once told me that some morticians feel like it is their job to embalm/preserve a dead body in a way of offering a great service to the departed. They treat it as an art, and actually love what they do not in any sick sense.
Abraham Lincoln said: "Most people are about as happy as they make their minds to be."
Dr. Matthew N. Chappell, a renowned pyschologist says: "Happiness is produced not by objects, but by ideas, thoughts and attitudes which can be developed and constructed by the individual's own activities, irrespective of the environment."
Merey aapa what is your point ? It takes a lot of time to tune out the environment you are in . The brain does not have an on and off switch or a dial . You can not change the dial from gloomy , to sad ,to depressed , to happy , to very happy.
It takes lot effort to start feeling opposite to what your environment is forcing you to feel. No appa ?
P.S: I like calling you appa , I never had an appa , I hope you will not mind ? I am sure you are much younger than I am , but you are so wise as I wanted my imaginary appa to be. Sometimes I call my daughter appa when she says something very wise although she is only 7.
