You can use Toasted Pita wedges, and bake until crispy, and add spinach dip to a bowl and serve with the Pita Chips as well. For the crackers you can also serve a bean salsa or dip in center of platter, with assorted crackers all around it. You can never go wrong with cheese slices...use fresh cut slices of cheddar/monterey jack...your favorite and top with diced tomatoes & melt.
Take graham crackers, top with chocolate slice and mini marshmallow and bake until melted. Just be creative. :)

Make a nice fruit punch and decorate bowl with wedges of lemons/oranges/pineapple slices. Instead of liquor you can mix in seltzer/tonic/carbonated water.

Re: hors d'oeuvres

wow those are VERY good ideas! i have both graham crackers and chocolate lying at home.

Re: hors d'oeuvres

Sweets this is another one I like. Just spread some fruit preserve over the craker, top with cheese and pop in the microwave for the cheese to melt a bit. i love sweet/salt combos so this works for me.

you can also spread cream cheese and top with sliced fruit, thats not microwaved though. goes better with graham crackers than salty ones.

Also those flavoured cream cheeses, e.g. sour cream and onion, you can spread them on the cracker and top with a bit of tomato or soemthing.

Re: hors d'oeuvres

omg so many ideas. u guys really have them creative juices flowing dont u?

femme the fruit preserve and cheese sounds wacky but then i thought dont we usually have fruits and cheeses together (w/o the crackers) hmm so ill give it a shot. I have some very old and dear friends coming over and i want to delight them with my (non-existant) culinary skills.

Re: hors d'oeuvres

SPread guacamole and top with crushed crisps

Re: hors d'oeuvres

get the spinach artichoke dip and spread a thin layer on the crackers.

Re: hors d'oeuvres

do u guys use one of those conical tubes to squeeze the cream cheese on the crackers so it looks pretty?

Re: hors d'oeuvres

naaa just put a couple of lumps with a knife, even though the nozzle thing would look cute.
