french polynesia (only go there If u have A LOT of money to spend. Beautiful place, once in a lifetime opportunity but unbelieveably expensive--like a can of coke for $4--so imagine meal prices. Watching a dance show (1 hour) and a buffet at the resort cost more than a $1000. and if u are saying to go and try local places--there arent very many in a lot of the islands--u have to rely on the resort many times.

There are a lot of things in FP (Tahiti, Bora Bora, Raiatea, Huahini, Taha, Moorea)--such as snorkeing, scuba diving (if u are licensed), boat trips, parasailing, kayaking on the river, 4 x 4 jeep excursions on the mountains, feeding sharks, picnics on the beach, submarines, dance shows, the food is really good (french and local influence--creme fraiche in everything, real delicious butter, thick creamy soups and a lot of seafood).

It would be a very adventurous honeymoon indeed. If you need for info lemme know....

have u visited both places?

Re: Honeymoon Destinations? Help!

As for being romantic--FP certianly is!!! The overwater bungalows, walking on the decks at night with the moonlight glow shimmering in the dark seas. Lanterns brightening up the dark secluded island. During the day the water is just brilliant--colors change (cuz of deepening)---a sapphire, a brilliant turquoise and a jade green....all jewel like.....u can jet ski around the island alone. Plenty of gardens near the resort. Nice pools. Very few tourists, the tv is all in french lol---u can hike up to a waterfall and even swim in the waters (but its cold and eels live there lol).

One unromantic thing they NEVER tell u is that FP has a plethora of dangerous and starving dogs. If you are afraid of dogs dont go or else u will cream the entire time. Even if u are a dog lover--dont go near those things they are always ready to attack. Before dogs used to be eaten by the Polynesians, now they are not eaten and there are easily 20-30 stray dogs in one street alone.

If you love shopping--there are a few things. Black pearls--(in the thousands), colorful paroes, decorative plates, t-shirts/dresses with the floral motifs, food products (jams especially), vanilla products (teas, coffees), vanilla lotions, original artwork (several hundreds to thousands of dollars).

Re: Honeymoon Destinations? Help!

Wow thanks for the info esp the dogs part b/c it has been a life long dream for me to one day visit Bora Bora...those huts on the water are just...heavenly. But ya I'm terrified of dogs, so I guess that will not be happening now...

Re: Honeymoon Destinations? Help!

^-- And you couldn’t post all that in one single post? This can lead to a warning.

Re: Honeymoon Destinations? Help!

Although you might not want to go to Pak cause of sit there...but
Bhoorban Resort (Muree) is the BEST!! I went there myself on mine - PC Bhurban is made on a hill, with every floor (marbelized to the nose) stepped from the previous one - when you look down the stair its like you are moved over from the bottom one and its like climbing a hill in the hotel..
PC has honey moon packages, you can get a suite with a free candle lit dinner included
and the BEST part was the privacy...if you go out early in the morning, the mist is on their balcony and you have your breakfast, lunch , snack out in the open...
veryyyyyy romantic....
Go end of Sept. and you will get a low low crowd inshallah.. no beaches...
but nice...
