HIV is 'out of control' in India

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

periodically some bozo makes a statement such as this and little puppies like y'all jump around yelping ...until someone points out the population of India and that of Africa - whether taken as a continent or region.

Doesn't make the disease any less serious but keep some perspective.

And the idiot who tried to score some point with the circumcision - he will be quite shocked to learn what proportion of Africans are muslim. It is no protection against hiv...

Re: HIV is ‘out of control’ in India

who. Mr Feachem? I dont think he said it was a protection but that reduces the chances.

I dont think Mr. Feachem is anti-Inida or anything, his role as the director fo teh global fund to battle AIDS is to be objective and look at risks and solutions.

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

Aids has become an epidemic in Hindustan????? Is that why Hindustan is opening it's borders to Pakistan??????

Flippin Hell, and I thought Hindustan wanted real peace with Pakistan but I guess it's only after spreading diseases!

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

^^^ at the moment India does NOT have and Aids or HIV eperdemic. The government (and media) have acnowledged that it is a problem and are trying to think of ways in which to deal with it.

People are being educated and made aware of its presence
Its not something they can sweep under the carpet and pretend its not there.

which MAY be something that another country that you guys hold quite dear may do.

Green and white

I dont like the way you said it but you do have a point about open borders, I doubt all the Aids patients are going to run over to the border and start to infect people left right and centre, but If you look at Africa and the statistics they have show that a significant spread of HIV is in the area of the Ukimwe highway which is a road which goes through countries in Africa.

The truck drivers use prostitutes along this route, then go home and infect their wives who infect the kids, and then go on to further up the road and infect more prostitutes who go on to infect other drivers and local people.

I know that the Indian sub continent has less of this type of culture but there is a chance that it may happen.

Re: HIV is ‘out of control’ in India

Show me a news link that says it is spreading in Pak too.

Re: HIV is ‘out of control’ in India

Show me a link where they ever talk about something like AIDS in Pakistan.

Re: HIV is ‘out of control’ in India

:smack2:the point is 5mill in India is a much smaller %age than in Africa. So before making sweeping statements such as this, these guys have a duty to present the perspective - otherwise illiterate monkeys start jumping up and and down (thinking this is some sort of scoring a point in their interminable internal struggle with India), as we find presently.

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

HIV and Aids is not mainstream in Pakistan like in India...

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

Dear Pakis, here we are discussing HIV, not LOC.

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

they should start educating children in pakistan and india about hiv/aids and other stds in school. because people wont talk precautions unless they know how bad it is and how it can spread. like in the u.s by the time you reach highschool you have had sex ed. like five times.

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

i wonder which poor lil paki brought aids into the country, haha they went over the border n slept w/ an indian?? hahah , sorry bad joke. its a serious topic.

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

Yes Sara its a VERY serious topic

And whats happening here in this thread

ie the comments like, Its all Indias fault and No its not Indias fault or its not really that bad because we are muslims or its a problem that has nothing to do with us because its not really an Issue in Paks, or Ive never heard about it so it doesnt exist

are the type you'll hear in Paks but on a larger scale.

the fact is that even if there are half a dozen people with HIV in Paks the illness will spread because of the lack of education and the bloody mindedness of the people.

When I went to Paks last year, Iwent to Islamabad, Karachi and nwfp I heard about at least one member of each extended family I stayed with as having hepatitis C.

And these families were from a wide range of races

I reckon Hiv , if its not dealt can go the same way.

Re: HIV is ‘out of control’ in India

smaller percentage yes, but not small enough numbers to consider it inconsequential and ignore it. I too amd sick and tired of idiot pakistanis and idiot indians having their pissing contests on pak.org, we can always see idiotic examples of that on pak affairs forum

This is a rather large problem for India, because the reported cases to actual ratio may be very different than in other countries, and also, the rate of growth is critical. I dont think those stats are present but from zero to 5 million is not anything that can be ignored. This is not some india vs pakistan issue, this is a human issue and something that has to be seriously countered.

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

^^Atlast someone speaks sense. To all these anjjans and Atlantises on this forum, you guys are just blind with patriotism.

A trend is there where all these people rally around certain India specific threads, as if they're India's chawkidaars or something - it's quite appaling actually.

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

Fraudia - you're stating the obvious and in the bargain get the bollymonkeys excited....

so if you're that concerned, go do something about it.

Re: HIV is 'out of control' in India

hepatitis c is spread from dirty water right?? cus it i think my cousin got it from swiming in some pond/ lake thing. or was that another hepatitis.

well how did hiv get into pakistan??

Re: HIV is ‘out of control’ in India

Occurs when blood or body fluids from an infected person enters the body of a person who is not infected.
HCV is spread through sharing needles or “works” when “shooting” drugs, through needlesticks or sharps exposures on the job, or from an infected mother to her baby during birth.

Taken from

http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/hepatitis/c/fact.htm

Can be spread by by things like like druggies, sexual liasons, even going to the barbers or the dentists (through the impliments thay use) and in some cases the people like the local midwife.
Hiv may have gotten into Paks like this
nobody knows

but thats beside the point.
as mr fraudia said, there is no point in blaming…just deal with the problem

Re: HIV is ‘out of control’ in India

I saw the need for the obvious to be stated as people kept going into tangents.

India is too far and too foriegn for me to tackle directly, however being involved in fundraising for AIDS research is pretty much all I am able to do right now. The fruits of the efforts of these groups would be shared be people across the globe.

Hopefully the combined effect of people’s efforts results in research that makes a difference and education and policies that contain the further explosion of the infection.
