History as depicted in Showbiz

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz

Nice point TLK. I think for accuracy we should look at documentaries on science and history subjects.. but as far as science fiction movies are concerned, people may have an idea at their back of mind about being their fiction.. whereas history dealing with human characters is more subject to exploitation just not for an agenda but for commercial purposes as well.

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz

I thought that Rose was a real person traveling in the ship Titanic, after I watched the movie :D

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz

Songs were written by Javed Akhtar, I liked all songs of Lagaan For Longewala, border, Major (later Brigadier) Chandpuri got second highest gallantary award, my grandfather was part of air campaign and he has his story quite different from army:), For LOC. I only know about air campaign:) was Gadar also banned:D??

Loji aapne to meri age ka faaluda kar diya:D

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz

Gaddar was not banned at first. people were just hmming 'Main nikla gaddi leke'. 'Ud ja kale kawan tere munh wich khand pawan', 'Musafir jane wale', when they suddenly knew that Sakko (Sakina) was offering prayer with manglasutra and sindoor. It was Musharraf's era when everything was allowed for media except criticism on Govt and that was also only in last two years.

Before this PTV always had a policy to show that at the time of partition, the only victims were Muslims.

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz

I watched Gadar and Lagaan on same day, Sunny paaji is my favourite:), Sardarni sakinaa in mangalsutra and sindoor:D, Movie had some solid sunny's dialogues, In Lagaan, people were watching cricket in the movie as if it was world cup final:D

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz

Sunny paa was called incarnation of Sultan Rahi, after people watched his taqat ka muzahira in Gaddar.

How they shown partition related riots in DD dramas. In Pakistan, we used to have special plays on 23rd March and 14th August showing naik Muslaman and very bad Hindu / Sikhs killing them.

Bob christo was the guy who helped indian to be relieved of all hate accumulated in their hearts towards english people....:D

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz

Without watching the video, I must comment that medical science was another aspect that got ridiculed by our movies. Per desi movies, heart attacks were caused, not by high cholesterol or bad life style choices, but by unexpected sadness.

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz

what about court cases?:D

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz

they always showed it as two way thing and even in history books we read that it was too way thing, Muslims versus Hindus & sikhs:)

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz

Also there was a guy who paired against Juhi Chawla  in Sultanat. He was also like angrez…

From Sultanat, I remember character of Yaqoot (played by Dharam ji) is also said to be not having as much importance in Razia Sultan’s life as depicted in the movie Razia Sultan.

Re: History as depicted in Showbiz
