Louis-Francois, Baron Lejuene’s depiction of the fighting during the Second Siege of Sarragossa on this day in 1808. The Spanish defenders bravely endured a siege on the city of Sarragossa for several months. Eventually an explosion at one of the Convents used for storing ammunition fatally weakened the garrisons defence forcing the city to surrender. Cassualties for this siege would be among the most severe of the Napoleonic wars. The total deaths exceeding the figures for the casualties at the famous battle of Waterloo. Second only to Borodino in terms of total lives lost on both sides being in excess of over 50,000

The following pic is suggested as the ONLY pic where the best leader Quaid-e-Azam and the greatest poet/intellect Iqbal were seen together.

Its the roundtable conference, London, 1930. Iqbal passed away 8 years later.
