Re: Hindustan ashamedly takes UN aid for tsunami victims
i have to agree with most of the stuff in your post…India is making efforts in right direction and the only reason those efforts are showing some results is because India has democracy for last 50 years. I also agree that it will take some time to get rid of hundreds of years of exploitation. It takes a lot of effort to become a Policeman from a Bhangiee. But at least Bhangiee is trying its best and we should give the due credit. Remember, the examples of bhangiee and Policman are only provided to clear my point.

Actually I wasn’t being sarcastic. Sorry if the truth hurts. I have lived in Dubai for 3 years and travel there at least nine times a year on business. This is how Arabs think. I repeat, if Arabs really cared about life or death or help, there would be no Palestinian problem to talk about.

Probably. Besides not being afraid of death, they probably see themselves as martyrs etc. Each to their own. As they say, 'There’s nowt queer as folk".
I read a very interesting article today in the Financial Times on the subject of Aid. It is interesting to note that countries that owe huge amounts in sovereign debt also have huge trade surpluses and foreign exchange reserves. India and China being classic cases. They have sufficent liquid resources to fund trade in hard currency yet have to pay back significant amounts in debt repayment. Unfortunately I can’t get an on-line link to the article, but if you buy a copy of the FT, or get hold of it in a library, assuming you live in the UK, then it will change your perception of Aid.
From memory, India refused Aid for aids sake, but said that it would need help in the latter stages of disaster management. Therefore not a good idea to condemn India off-hand. I still maintain that India’s mature response to the crisis should be a lesson to all Pakistani amateur politicians.
