It is both personified as a devil and as an age. In hinduism there are fore yugas(ages). Satyug,Treta,Dwapar,Kaliyug. The evilness increases as the age advances from one age to another. In satyug there is no evil, In treta evil begins and there is fight between goodness and badness, In dwapar, evil increases so much that even cousins starts fighting over land and other dispute. Age of Kali or Kaliyug is where even brothers fight amongst themselves and evil is maximum, it will end with MahaPralay, similar to Quayamat:) and then agains same age cycle will start.
PS: Kali of Kaliyug is different from hindu deity Maa Kaali:)
Whether Aryans invaded or not is doubtful both of the theories are not having sufficient proof to augment their arguments:). Hindu geography in vedic and post vedic literature doesn’t know anything beyond HinduKush mountains in west and Sri Lanka in south:). Secondly Aryans are considered illiterate, uncivilized, martial tribe but their coming in the region and suddenly producing huge amount of literature mentioning the above region is paradoxical. Vedas were transferred initially from mouth to mouth from generation to generation before writing was discovered as the age of most primitive of them, RigVeda is also arbitrary set by German Historian Max Muller:)
