MUSLIMS START MIGRATION; KASHMIR HIGHWAY BLOCKED**

Jammu, Srinagar, July 31: Hundreds of Muslim families originally hailing from the Muslim majority districts of Rajouri-Poonch and Doda -Kishtawar have migrated from the Jammu district to their home districts during last two nights, following a number of selective attacks on the community during last one week.
And the rest of Muslim colonies and areas are under complete siege, people are not in a position to move out of their homes due to fear. The extremists also attacked a religious place in Subhash Nagar last night besides attacking Muslims in Channani and Udhampur.
Sources said hundreds of Muslim families from Bathindi, Janipur and other areas of Jammu district have migrated from the district following the quit Jammu threat given by the BJP and allied extremist organizations. A religious place at Subhash Nagar was also attacked last night, its window panes and doors damaged.
President Shia Federation Jammu said he found the religious place damaged by the extremists comprising mostly Kashmiri Pandits. Khan said three Muslim vegetable sellers were attacked by Bajrang Dal activists in Channani area of Udhumpur Thursday morning . Not only this, a Sumo taxi of Kashmir was also damaged by these activists at Copra Chowk Udhumpur and the driver of the vehicle identified as Muhammad Sharief of Bijbehara was critically injured.
“Unfortunately these incidents occurred in the presence of police but they remained mute spectator,” added Ashiq Hussain Khan. He said that the role of police seems nowhere and the Muslim community is completely at the mercy of Hindu extremists. He said threat is being passed on to Muslims through the local cable TV cannels to quit Jammu. “In such a situation we the Muslims of Jammu fear 1947 situation when lakhs of Muslims were massacred alone in Jammu within two or three days,” said Khan. Moreover, the unfortunate part of the situation is that no one from the Kashmiri Muslim leadership uttered a single word in favour of the Jammu Muslims, said Khan.
Muhammad Aslam Shah of Janipur Jammu while talking to this correspondent over phone from Jammu said that large number of Muslims families of Janipur area have migrated to their home districts during past two nights following attacks, provocative slogans and threats. The Muslim residents of Jammu districts have no option to move out and have confined themselves to four walls. “We have no option but to wait for the destiny,” said Shah. He said during late nights these Hindu extremists take out processions chanting slogans like “Bharat Main Rehna Hai Tou Ram Ram Kehna Hai” at the door steps of the houses of Muslim community in Janipur area.
Shah said none of the Muslim leaders has uttered a single word on their plight except Hurriyat Chairman Syed Ali Geelani.
Reports said protesters attacked Kashmir-bound trucks carrying essential commodities to the Valley damaging dozens of trucks at Lakhanpur on Punjab-Jammu border.
During the intervening night of July 30-31 some youth set afire a Kashmir bound tanker No. 3257 JK01B on way from Pathankot to Srinagar outside SBI building in Samba town.
Another truck No. 5435 JK92AD on way from Pathankot to Jammu was torched by a mob at Barian, Dwarka Puri near Samba town. Police rushed to the spot but the youth responsible for the incident escaped. After the two incidents, police stopped movement of trucks on Jammu-Pathankot highway.
Outside famous Chichi Mata temple near Samba, a mob over-turned a truck No. 2775 JK02AD carrying Kashmiri apples and damaged it extensively. They threw all apple boxes on the road. Some youths tried to set the truck on fire but they were prevented from doing so by elderly people in the mob. Protesters blocked Jammu-Pathankot highway.
At the rally in Jammu, Samiti activists and local people threatened to disrupt all trucks and other load carriers carrying supplies to Kashmir and the trucks carrying Kashmiri apples from Srinagar to other states. The people also laid nakas on the highways throughout the night and didn’t allow even a single truck to move towards Kashmir.
People in Samba town installed a permanent tent on the highway and started dharna there saying they won’t allow any truck to ply on the highway.
In Udhampur also, people took out a rally and damaged vehicles plying on Jammu-Srinagar highway at Dhar Road, Rhembal and Udhampur town.
Scenes of stone pelting and use of petrol bombs on the cops again erupted this evening at Parade Chowk. As mobs threw stones and petrol bombs on the cops, the police force was withdrawn from the area.
