I ran into this old friend of mine, who recently had a wedding. So my sister and I were discussing the conflict between being a religious hijaabi and throwing an all-star expensive extravagant wedding.
Girlfriend had an all-out 7 day extravaganza, really expensive dress, awesome food selection (makes a chinese buffet look cheap), ridiculously expensive resort area, and gave herself a ridiculously expensive honeymoon to boot with pictures and videos all over facebook.
So, hijabs are done for modesty. How can you be a modest person wearing a hijab and have the most extravagant wedding ever...when you come from a country where people die of hunger every night and get treated like dogs for being poor?
What are your thoughts?
just cos she wears a hijab, doesnt make the gal perfect! plus if she had the means to throw such a wedding, without bankrupting herself, why not? just maybe invite a few homeless people along to sort of kind of justifiy the extravagance!
