this is going to sound racist but i can never tell if some oriental person is a girl or a guy :-/ they all look alike!
khair as for ur situation, there could be lesbians in ur gym too. i think u shud keep wearing hijab even if its a woman only gym.
Haha! That actually happened to me at York university yesterday. I was manning a corporate recruitment booth at the shopping centre there when an oriental walked up to me. I took a look at it and was like “Whoa… is this a girl or just a guy with long hair”.
Luckily it spoke and then I was able to work out that the person was a she…
I think it has nothing to do with if he’s gay or not…males are not allowed in there so u shud definately approach the owners just don’t bring up his sexual orientation…they shudn’t let men in there full stop, otherwise men will use being gay as an excuse to get in there to be with women lolz!
Nia Khan you are confusing Transexuality with Homosexuality, I think your gym friend is the former.
A Transexual is somebody who wants to be the opposite gender, a Hermaphrodite is born with sexual organs which are neither female nor male... These two types are what we call Hijra in Pakistan, they can be heterosexual or homosexual or bisexual.
Homosexuals however are just men who don't find women attractive and only find other males attractive, Bisexuals fin both genders attractive... In the West they tend to be quite effeminate but Desi or Arab ones are not for some reason.
If that’s the case then yeah, it wudn’t be right to kick him/her out if they are legally classified as a woman…i didn’t know she was talking about a transexual…i thought he was just a “normal” gay guy haha!..
So this person who approached you in class, how do you know she is transexual? Why does it really matter? How does it affect you doing your step class? Can't you just do your workout on the other side of the studio? How do you know the other women in the class aren't lesbians who are checking you out?
You go to a women's only gym and you are concerned about whether you should wear a hijab or not cause there is apparently a 'man' in your class who is actually a female/transexual which you really aren't sure about. How did this person approach you? What exactly bothered you other than the person's sexual orientation? I'm asking questions and repeating the facts you have stated in the hopes that some how your dilemma will become more clear.
I agree with SarahSplendour here. In a way, it is discrimination. If this person has not done anything to you, then there is really no reason for you to complain. If she is a transexual, then legally she will be considered a female and you won't get much of a response from the management if you do complain. If it really bothers you, just join another women's only gym ... but then again, you might run into the same 'problem'. Why not just deal with the issue and learn how to handle it instead of avoiding it (by switching gyms)? Regardless, you should just wear a hijab anyway, cause like someone else above mentioned, you really don't know how many transexuals you are around all the time. :p
