Saag or paalak (spinach)?
Re: HELP!
Yes PSquared, you defo need one 'wet' main so that people can have that with their naan and/or with their rice. I also agree with the poster who said that dishes such as nihari should only be eaten with naan (TLK I think it was).
If you have one 'wet' main, you could do saag with some form of meat in it too. We usually do it with boneless chicken, don't cook the chicken too long and you'll get really moist juicy chicken - this is so beautiful - my mum makes this and people are alwaysssss saying how they crave that very dish!
Then have one veggie dish - okra, or aubergines, or even some sort of daal dish.
Naan and rice are standard.
Salads, yoghurts, sauces etc.
ive thrown many dinner parties and i never had any wet salan... so made me wonder. i always have karhai and biryani and add new items to it each time. i guess its upto you. wotever way u like.
ok so u asked for spagetti recipe its the easiest yet the yummiest dish of all.. i make it v simple. take cabbage (half if its medium size) 3 medium size carrots, 2 medium capsicum, 1 onion cut into long pieces (like shredded) and some boiled chicken. just fry the veggies with soya sauce, hot sauce, ketchup, lil ketchup with garlic or else put garlic paste, blck pepper powder, maggi chicken stock and ure ready. make sure the veggies are stir fried not cooked! cook ur spagetti separate and add this to the mixture and mix it up really nice. its not v difficult. u can also put mushrooms if u like.
chicken kasturi or BBQ sounds gud too!!! u cud try that too.
PS: if ure makin matar pulao deffo make green chutney with it.. itll b nice because matar pulao dusnt have spices and masalas and all so its nice to have a chutney which u can have alongside pulao.
Re: HELP!
I don't find dawaat A dawaat without Biryani... plus Bhindis/begans/Saags are not dinner party foods. .they are "meh you got nothing else to cook then comeova I got you something" typa foods.. what abou grilled chicken, or chicken tikka? Goodness, you all need to come t my place to get the taste of a real dawaat and i'm a male sigh

cudnt agree more!! my exact feeling when i read ur (PSQ) menu. u gotta have biryani if not then pulao is ok but then u absolutely HAVE TO make karhai or any other not so typical dish like nihari, kofte or somethin that is a bit unique and difficult to make.
Re: HELP!
I did it!
This was my menu:
Chicken Qorma
Dum ka Qeema
Bhindi
Matar Pulao
Gosht ka salan
Along with this I also had Naan, Raita and Salad.
For dessert, I made Hawaiian salad which is basically Cool Whip with a ton of different types of fruit. Its all I had the energy to throw together after all of the above.
I didnt serve the Chicken salad sandwiches or pasta because it was throwing my desi theme off.
Mall, you are a star! Thank you so much for helping me through this!!!!!!
ure welcome!! gud to know ur party went well and i m happy that ur menu was not that bad either... the best part was u had 5 dishes!! i can never imagine havin a dawat and cookin anythin less than 4 items at least. well done! how was the taste of ur dishes? do post pics .. wud love to see them!
