ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on Saturday vowed to file a hijacking case against President Musharraf after the authorities concerned did not permit around 10 parliamentarians to disembark from a PIA flight, at the Islamabad airport, in order to attend the joint Parliament session.
“I am going to the airport police station to file a hijacking case against Musharraf and if I am not permitted by the police then I shall approach the courts of law,” said PML-N leader Tehmina Daultana who was amongst the passengers of PIA flight PK-356, which was taken to Peshawar an hour after it had landed in Islamabad.
She told members of the press at a press conference that no passenger was allowed to disembark from the airplane, when it landed in Islamabad. She added that the authorities had told the passengers that they might be detained due to a bomb-hoax at the airport. The flight had flown in from Lahore.
Ms Daultana dismissed the pretext of a bomb-hoax saying that the actual reason had been that the government did not want the opposition parliamentarians to participate in the joint session, which was held for President’s address. The pilot took the plane to Peshawar without informing the passengers, despite strong protests, she said, adding that there was a sick child on the plane who was not allowed to disembark.
“He (Musharraf) had accused Nawaz Sharif of a hijacking. But he is the real hijacker,” she said voicing a strong reaction to the incident. The PML-N leader added that the passengers were made to disembark at the Peshawar airport under very strict security and were subsequently taken to the lounge where they were shown the President’s address live.

Among other passengers onboard were state minister for parliamentary affairs, Raza Hayat Hiraj, interior secretary Tasneem Noorani, WAPDA chairman, MNA Raheela Qazi and other parliamentarians.
Meanwhile, when Ms Daultana and Mushahidullah Khan visited a police station at the Islamabad airport to register a compalint of plane ‘hijacking’, the authorities refused to entertain their application. :biggthumb
