now how can u compare above name with DOG have u ever heard a name of person sag or kutta or dog or pig or swine etc.

the point is why one should de-grade itself at that level when the same is not proven from the Act of Prohphet (PBUH) and his Companions (RZA)

Even Hazrat Baba Bullay Shah (AR) in one of his famous KAFI, held DOGS, metaphorically above himself. See the depth of his vision (if you can understand Punjabi)

Dear Brother,
I really appreciate your concern and sentiments. But the history of Arab tells us that at the time of Holy Prophet, certain tribes were named on animals like Banu Asad (Lion Clan) and Banu Kalb (Kalb = Sag = Dog Clan). The people of this tribe were called Kalbites or Kalbi. There was one great companion of Holy Prophet (SAW) whose name was Hazrat Dahia Kalbi (RA). Even in some books of history it is mentioned, that whenever, Hazrat Gabriel (AS) had to appear in Human Form (apart from Hadees-e-Ihsan or Iman), he used to appear in the attire of Hazrat Dahia Kalbi (RA). And names like Kalb-e-Muhammad, Kalb-e-Ali, Kalb-e-Abbas are being used even today.

With all due respect, Zamana-e-Jahliyat key misalaiN na daiN, arabooN kay haaN aur bi buhat c aisi rasoomat aur naam aur khuda thay. banu Kalb key wajaah-e-tasmiya bazaat-e-khud kabil-e-fakhr nahi.

aaj tak na maiN na nahi meray kisi jannay walay ko kisi aisay naam walay say milnay ka ittefaq howa jis key app nay misaal dee hay, as a matter of fact maiN nay pehli bar app say hi suna hay kay Kalb-e-Abbas aur kalb-e-Muhammad jaisay bhi naam hotay haiN.. meray nazdeek tu itnay moqadas namooN kay saath nijs janwar ko joRna bazat-e-khud hi toheen hay in namooN key...
anyway agr app in namooN ko pasand kertay haiN tu rakh laiN.. though it will be a kind of shirk.. but again being it is allowed in Taswuf
as far as iam concerned Kalb-e-Ali etc jaisay naam sirf jahliyat key hi nishani haiN.

Of course we can't keep names like....Kalb, hamar, kittun , dajjajah and ullu..............
........as Prophet(SAW) ordered muslims to keep good names with good meaning.
But there is no harm in using words like dog as metaphor in poetry.

My dear and respected brother

These are the names of Sahaba from Zamana-e-Jahliat with a post fix of the word KALBI which was not changed by Holy Prophet (SAW).

1) Hazrat Dahya Kalbi (RA). He was sent in 06 Hijri by Holy Prophet (SAW) to Rome as his ambassador. Moreover as narrated above Hazrat Gabriel (AS) used to appear in human form as Hazrat Dahya Kalbi (RA).

2) Hazrat Jubla bin Harisa Kalbi (RA). He was the elder brother of Hazart Zaid bin Harisa (RA).

3) Hazart Usama bin Zaid bin Harisa Kalbi (RA). He was the son of Hazrat Zaid bin Harisa (RA) who was made, despite his young age, Sipah-e-Salar of a Lashkar with senior Sahaba-e-Karam (RA) by Holy Prophet (SAW) himself. At that occasion when few people objected to his young age, it was for him that Holy Prophet (SAW) said, "Usama was made to be a leader as was his father".

4) Lastly, the only great Sahabi with his name in Holy Quran, the only Sahabi declared as the Foster son of Holy Prophet (SAW), the only Sahabi who was given the tilte of Mahboob-e-Rasool-e-Khuda was none other than a Kalbi by the name of Hazrat Zaid bin Harisa Kalbi (RA). He was later on called as Zaid bin Muhammad till the time it was forbade in Holy Quran.

Subhan Allah what an honour for the Kalbis.

Anyway thanks a lot for sharing your comments and giving your precious time to this thread. If inadvertantly, I have hurt your feelings by quoting names like Kalb-e-Muhammad, Kalb-e-Ali, Kalb-e-Abbas, my signature Sag-e-Madina-o-Najaf, or even the thread itself, please accept my deepest apologies. i think...zaid bin harsa mother was from Banu Kalb...and when he was taken away by the robbers at age of 6 or 7 ...came to feast of Ukaaz ...ukaaz ka maila..where the nephew of khadiga...ibne hazzam..i think...bought it...and presented him to his khala...khadiga...and after marriage with prophet(pbuh)...he came to prophet(pbuh)......
so.. i think..from mother side...his name was kalbi....

just for information...the greatest cleric of shia..in lucknow,india has a name Kalb-e-Abbas...

Recommend a movie or two.

The mother of Hazrat Zaid bin Harisa (RA) was Su'da binte Sa'alba and she was not from Banu Kalb but from Banu Ma'an, while his father was from Banu Kalb. He was kidnapped by a band of looters from her own tribe headed by Ibn-e-Jareer who later sold him in the Bazaar-e-Ukaza, where he was bought (as already pointed by you) by Hakeem bin Hazaam bin Khuwaild for his Aunty Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (RA) for a sum of 400 dirhams.

Of course not, but i decided to keep away from the discussion, as i Sufees have their own way for thinking ( which is questionable and never answered) and explaination which Dr. Sufi have made have many questions with in it. but again both Dr. and me thinks and believe in opposite sides ( not saying that we dont have same believe in basics of Islam). so from his side he gave the explaination from my side i still have the questions but better not to ask.

But if anyone like to have a detailed and mannerly conversation of Basics and Science of Taswuf i'll be willingly take an active part in it.

Just the thread also talked about Zaid in Harsa... i wanted to share of this great personality....

Once in Madina....prophet(pbuh) was lying in his house ..suddenly someone knocked at the house...prophet(pbuh) asked that who is at the door...the repkly came **Zaid...*on hearing this prophet(pbuh) rushed towards the door so quickly that the black shawl(kali kamli) which was previously on his body while lying, fell on the ground...he opened the door...embrassed Zaid and kissed his forehead with tears in his eyes....

*It is narrated from Aisha that...she used to say that If Zaid had lived at the death of prophet(pbuh)...prophet(pbuh) would have declared Zaid as his successor he not declared even my father...but i am sure that Zaid would have given preference over my great father...this shows the love and satus of Zaid in eyes of Aisha...

Prophet(pbuh) **insisted **his cousin Zainab to marery Zaid..although Zainab and hius brother was not agree..as Zaid was a freed slave...but prophet(pobuh) fully insisted Zainab..although this marriage latter failed as in quran...but this shows the locve of prophet(pbuh) with zaid....
prophet(pbuh) also payed all the money for his marriage and **haq mehar....*

*prophet(pbuh) wept when he heard the news of his death in Mauta Ghazva and said that Zaid...Jaffar and Abdullah ibne Rawah were all 3 my best friends..and companions....

  • When Jaffar said that plz. make me commander of Mauta expedituion...although his first cousin and gereat sahabi...prophet(pbuh) totally neglected his request and gave preference to Zaid

*when usama bin zaid..his son was made as commander...even then some sahabas objected..prophet(pbuh) in a very angry mood said that...you people also objected his father...but he was most dear to me...and usama is also most dear to me....

*Usama when once as a child recieved an injury in playing and stated weepiing..prophet(pbuh) took him in his lap...and said ...my son..stop...if you had a girl...i would have made you bridegroom..etc etc...this shows the prophet(pbuh) love for usama...

*when the woman of tribe to which khalid bin waleed belong made a theft and was ordered to cut her hands...it was usama who was sent with "sifarish" to save that woamn..as prophet(pbuh) loved him very much...although prophet(pbuh) turned down his request....

*when the incident of Affak...means the blame on Aisha happened ....prophet(pbuh) asked usama ..that have you seen anything wrong with Aisha...although a child..he said ...not at all....

*But Ali said that...you can have more choices to marry ...although ali not blammed Aisha but aisha thought that Ali should clear her position..so tensions created between aisha and ali...in 5 hijri...and remained...throughout .....and overwhelmed in the battle of Camel.....
tahts the reason usama was among few great sahabas who did not bait Ali on his caliphate with the reason that usman murderes were with usama...
