Marriage is a GAMBLE whether it’s arranged or love…whether you’ve known your partner for only a few months or a few YEARS…whether you’re marrying within the family or outside the family.
Why do you need to make it an EVEN BIGGER **GAMBLE **by not seeing or talking to your fiance both before and after the engagement??? Are you telling me that you’re not going to see or talk to this person until the wedding day?
And I know that there ARE cases where such marriages have turned out successful. Where neither person really sees the other until after the marriage contract has been signed. BUT…it’s no guarantee that it will be successful.
I think it’s better/practical to see and get to know your future partner for marriage purposes. Going into something completely blind (granted it might have worked for some) is unsettling. You wouldn’t create a thread about it if you felt totally at peace with this.
You should see what your fiance looks like. Physical attraction is not the only factor to consider in a relationship…but it is an aspect of it. Compatibility is very important as well. Are you both on the same wavelength…are your temperaments compatible…do you have similar goals and beliefs, etc etc. So get to see and know your fiance. Right now, it’s only the engagement period…and if you find that you’re incompatible…an engagement is much easier to end than a marriage (which would be much stickier). Even if he/she lives in another country, there are other ways to get to know one another (phone, email, etc).
