Re: Have you tried internet dating?
Not personally but I know quite a few white ppl who met through Facebook or Twitter and a couple of desis who met on Shaadi.com .. some broke up, some were/are in long-term relationships and a couple have gotten married..
Too tired to go thru all the pros and cons right now but I really don’t find it any more risky than meeting someone in real-life (as in meeting someone totally ‘new’.. not someone who’s already known to you in some way)..
People will say ‘oh, they could be hiding something’ but as time goes on you’ve just as much chance as finding that out as you would in a real-life situation.. You just need to use a bit of common-sense, for example if they’re disappearing for long periods of time/not answering their phone or not wanting you to meet their family + friends ask yourself why ..
People will also say talking or meeting strangers in itself is risky.. so how do they make friends? Isn’t every person a stranger until you talk and get to know them??
Shaadi.com looks like a scam website, even the reviews confirm it. I doubt I would ever join any muslim marriage websites, seems so sketchy.
Yeah I know a few people who’ve met through facebook, friends of friends etc and I pretty much agree with everything you’ve said in the context that everyone is a stranger.
