Have you Lived in/Are you Living in ....

Re: Have you Lived in/Are you Living in ....

Nice thread AQ...

A university town has its own benefits and disadvantages.

Among the positive things...

  • it is ideal for studying - calm and peaceful atmosphere.
  • Everything is within reach. You can possibly live without a car.
  • You also get to know people well.
  • Cost of living may not be that high.

Disadvantages:
- A smaller job market
- The regional or major airport may be far sometimes, which may make traveling harder.
- Less places to chill around.

Now regarding the dorm..

I would say never go for a dorm. Usually the kitchen is shared on a floor. In addition people may stare at you if you do wudu in the sink. The room mate may not be nice. I got a nice one though.. I would say one should stay in a dorm at least for one semester. One can familiarize oneself more with the American way of life + make friends.

An apartment even if shared would be much better. Atleast there is some privacy. Most importantly you can use a kitchen easily. Besides its has more space.

Hope this helps.
