If I feel like watching a movie that my friends or siblings are not into........then I have no problems going alone to the theater. In fact, I've done that a few times. Now my sister and a couple of other people think that just makes you look like a "loser".....but I doubt anyone really pays attention if you're with someone or not as they're so busy watching the movie, or talking to someone, or munching on their popcorn/candy.

I agree with her. I’ve done it sometimes when it’s a movie no one I know wants to watch. Once or twice I’ve gotten out of work/class early and just got in the mood to watch a movie.
With all my friends getting married/busy with their careers etc., it’s becoming more difficult for everyone to find the time to plan nights out. Therefore, I’ll just go out by myself sometimes (I do realize that makes me sort of sound like a loser).
Walking in and out of the theater by myself does feel awkward sometimes, but who cares.

That doesn't bother me. When you walk into a theater alone....does it necessarily mean that you're alone? No. One could even think that you came with another person who is either buying food, or using the restroom, or will come at a later point. And when the movie starts...people are so absorbed in the movie...that I don't think they pay attention. I know that I don't look around at other people when I'm watching the movie. And when the movie is over....so many people walk out at the same time (one person behind the other) that it's hard to tell if a person is "alone" or not.

LOL, yeah I don't go to the "cinaymaa" in Sialkot. The movie billboards with the mustachioed "heroes" and the brawny "heroines" are scary looking enough. I just rent whatever movie and watch it at home with my cousins.
In the west........psshhht I don't care. "Acquaintances" by definition are not people that one is "close" to.....so their opinion doesn't matter to me. As for close friends and family.....I've told them that I sometimes go to the theater alone and they don't care....a few of them have done the same.
