How did the Al-Qaeda insurgent placed bombs so explosive in presence of security? No casuality? Moreover, it was not a car bomb, so someone must have the time to plant it.

Yea, Iraqi security is known to have holes in it, if it ends up having to many or to big of holes then the entire country is doomed and this bombing isn't a good sign.

It's not up to the American people. Like I said, they are cheap chickens in a grocery store in the eyes of their elected leaders. They will follow in line.

i dont get it..shia's Sunni's..they're both Muslim..when will all the hatred end..i mean really..if they get together and form like a union or something...i'm sure they'll be able to fight just about any other non-Muslim group...they should really get past the differences..

How about forming a coaltion for peaceful purposes? To educate Muslims. Improve their quality of life. Improve human rights. Why must fighting others be the reason to come together?

How do we know who is destroying the mosques. It is quite convenient to call it sectarian violence. Who benefits out of Shia/Suni warfare?

If US pulls out of Iraq now...does that mean it has won the war on terrorism. What a shame that after all this we are still at square one. Not to mention that Iraq is now an even better place for Al-Kyada than Afghanistan ever was.

Because like it or not we're never gonna agree upon religion. It sounds good but let's be real here..you and i cant make two very radical groups come together. If your enemy is my enemy then we have one thing in common. The differences dont matter than.

i never said that it made us enemies . i'm saying people of different religions especially shias and Sunnis consider themselves to be enemies.

Who benefits from sunni shia violence? The mullahs of course, who else. They can get people angry and that breeds more recruits for thier jihad to kill innocent people.

If the US pulls out, iraqis will increase the killing rate of their own people. Its the muslim way.

Mullahs know the real meaning of jihad (self containment- restrain from bad ideas) and non-mullahs do not.

You are joking right? Are you deaf to what many mullahs actually preach? Have you ever read a jihadi newspaper or listened to an ilegal jihadi FM channel or tape? Do you now what sipahe-sahaba, lashkar-e-jhangvi, jaish-e-mohammed etc are? Are they secular organizations? Do you know what business they are involved in?

78 killed by bombing at Baghdad mosque

**BAGHDAD - **A truck bomb struck a Shiite mosque Tuesday in central Baghdad, killing 78 people and wounding more than 200, even as about 10,000 U.S. soldiers northeast of the capital used heavily armored Stryker and Bradley fighting vehicles to battle their way into an al-Qaida sanctuary.

Police and hospital officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they feared retribution, said at least 78 people were killed and 218 were wounded, adding that the toll could rise as bodies were pulled from the debris.

The mosque’s imam, Sheik Saleh al-Haidari, said it was a truck bomb and the explosion hit worshippers as they left afternoon prayers.

“This attack was planned and carried out by sick souls, damaging the mosque’s outer wall and collapsing my office and the room above it,” al-Haidari told The Associated Press by telephone.

“There are number of bodies being pulled from the rubble and a number of worshippers were killed or injured,” he said, adding that he was not inside the mosque when the blast occurred.

The Khulani mosque is named after a revered Shiite figure who, according to Shiite tradition, was one of four deputies anointed by the Imam Mohammed al-Mahdi, who disappeared in the 9th century and will return to restore justice to humanity.

One officer said the explosives-packed truck was loaded with fans and air coolers to avoid arousing the suspicions of security forces guarding the surrounding area, which is full of shops selling electrical appliances.
