Haunted Graveyards

Re: Haunted Graveyards

Yes but I didn't have any other choice except to run through the grave yard.

Re: Haunted Graveyards

ooh…yes please!

errmm not horror…but I adore spooky stuff. :sid: “Are you afraid of the Dark?”, “Goosebumps”…basically children’s horror. :cb:

I did watch The Conjuring btw…not as scary as Paranormal Activity but I generally tend to avoid horror movies…I don’t find them scary, but they really mess up my mind.

Re: Haunted Graveyards

I LOVED the Goosebump series :lifey:. I like em as an adult too. And my favorite one is A Night in Terror Tower, which is the 27th book in the series. I’ve switched off the classroom lights and read it aloud to my 4th and 5th grade students several times and they enjoy it immensely. You shoukd check that one out if you haven’t already. Maybe your kids will like it as well. I recall there used to be a British series called Trap which was spooky and if it’s on youtube, I might revisit it. In terms of horror movies, I don’t like the over-the-top gory variety such as Texas Chainsaw Massacare, etc etc. I like the more subtle paranormal movies…the ones that deal with demonic possession and stuff. I feel the scariest is The Omen, the original movie which came out the year after The Exorcist, which was also very well made. These two are like the predecessors and subsequent horror movies of their kind are not as scary as them, I feel. I do agree that Paranormal was creepier than The Conjuring, though I wasn’t too crazy about the former either. Case 39 is creepy. And I’ve yet to watch The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

Re: Haunted Graveyards

Once I spent night in a brick factory “EntaooN ka Bhatta” "Haunted bhatta" . We had a very old bhatta there in my town with many rumors. Once me & my friends had bet about spending night there. I agreed to stay night there. We made plan to make a get together in one of friend’s house.

So in the night 11 ‘O clock they dropped me on the road and I walked near about 1.5 KM and entered in the Bhatta. I had already planned for a safe a place to sleep as I was afraid that my friend can make plan to frighten me. There were lot of of bats, rats and cricket. I entered in my sleeping bag and put Walkman on my ears. Suddenly my Walkman stopped, I thought battery over but I just purchases cell. It was mid night so I tried to sleep but suddenly there were whispers and crawling of things. I talked with myself that these are bats and rats so no need to get afraid but my heart was beating very fast and my head was spinning. At that time, it seemed earth is going up and sky coming down like in movies. Telling you honestly guys, I don’t know I lost my senses or I got sleep.

Then I heard someone crying, someone taking my name and I closed my eyes tightly but no these were real voices and I can recognize voice of my younger brother. I opened my eyes and it was day light around. I came out from my safe place and my friends along with my elder & younger brother there with fainted faces. They told me we were very afraid that early in the morning call your brothers to go with us. But when we got no sign of you then we were very afraid and my brothers start beating me at that time : (

Re: Haunted Graveyards

I have heard that If you see some devil then quickly undress your self and that devil will run away. Have you listened this Theory ?

Re: Haunted Graveyards

yes heard it

Re: Haunted Graveyards

Yeah I remember Case 39…it was okayish. There was a similar movie to that called The Others…I liked it better.
Have you seen The Last Exorcism? It’s quite good.
There’s a TV series based on Goosebumps books…I might look for it on YT.
Was it Trapped? I think that was a reality show. Not sure…will google it.
Talking of British creepy TV series…I just finished watching The Demon Headmaster with my kids. They also like watching The Young Dracula and Rocket’s Island (both British).
Also, this fall I’m planning to read The Witches to them…my eldest is a big fan of Roald Dahl.

Re: Haunted Graveyards

We don't leave dead people when it comes to making money out of them :)

After our passing out party in RBI, me and my husband (I pataoed him by then) were moving in my car near Dhaulakuan near Western Air Command. I was totally drunk and was not much in my senses and he is a non-drinker so he was on the driving seat. So while making a U-turn we were about to hit a man jogging in blue t-shirt and white, he was about to hit him but missed him. I cajoled him that he was about to hit and he said, but there is no image of him in rear-view mirror

Mera Nasha tabhi utar gaya :D

Re: Haunted Graveyards

 so this is the popular myth that ghosts can’t be seen in mirrors or can’t be captured on camera.

Re: Haunted Graveyards

^^^ No idea but now I think so, I heard that Dhaulakuan is haunted :)

Re: Haunted Graveyards

Holy Wow!!!!!! I LOVED The Witches by Roaldh Dahl!!!!!!! I've read that one aloud to my students too and they really enjoyed it. It is creepy. Ut's written for kids...but it's still creepy. And there's even a movie based on the book which was pretty good, but defo start with the book. I've read Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolatr Factory, The BFG, The Twits....possibly even Fantastic Mr. Fox......but The Witches is the one I like best. Roald Dahl also wrote Tales of the Unexpected....stories of dark irony...that also became a TV series; you can find them on youtube....however they're not appropriate for kids I feel.

I didn't like The Others that much, but Case 39 creeped me out. I did watch The Last Exorcism...and I remember it was only me and some dude in the theatre, lol. It started off well, but toward the end it became sorta ott. I think I suspected earlier on that the mom and her children were all practicing the occult.

I googled Trap and nothing showed, I'll try Trapped and see what comes up. I will look into The Demon Headmaster, is it available on YT?

Re: Haunted Graveyards

I watched the movie long before I had kids…I loved it so much that I bought my own DVD of The Witches…now we watch it every year around Halloween time. :cb:
But yeah, I don’t like watching movies before reading the books usually…I kept delaying watching The Great Gatsby movie coz I wanted to read the book first.

The Twits is the only book of Roald Dahl that I have read so far…but my eldest has read some others that you mentioned. He loves the funny made-up words…his favourite one is BFG. Let’s see how they like The Witches.

I love dark fiction like Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events…Tales of the Unexpected sounds similar to that. I’ll add it to my reading list.

The Demon Headmaster’s all episodes are available on YT…it is based on a book as well…British tv series are usually slow paced in comparison to Canadian or American ones so you might find it a bit boring in the beginning. There was another Brit series I like…The Shoebox Zoo but it’s not on YT.

Talking about creepy books, have you read Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the end of the Lane…that’s one of my favourites. Then there’s The Graveyard Book by the same author that I still need to read…Heard so much about it.

The movies: have you seen The Orphanage?

Re: Haunted Graveyards

^ I've already googled The Demon Headmaster and will start watching it soon...maybe today or tomorrow...after I get one video out of the way. Will defo look into The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Hmmm, I have not seen The Orphanage. But I have heard of The Orphan...which is a horror movie and I have yet to watch. Have you seen Exorcism of Emily Rose? It's based on a true story, there was a documentary about her on the History channel Once I think. A friend had recommended it, but have yet to see it. I never read The Great Gatsby. My English teacher took a shortcut and had us watch the movie instead, lol.

Re: Haunted Graveyards

@hareem01

Tales of the Unexpected is actually very different from Lemony Snickett's books. I have never read the book itself, but I've watched a few of the stories on youtube.....and they're geared toward an older audience. Looks like the videos may have been made in the 70s or early 80s. The first one I watched was about this unusual landlady who rents her room out to a young man. Some stories are better than others.

Re: Haunted Graveyards

The Exorcism of Emily Rose? No...but I think I have seen the documentary.
