If I remember correctly, it was broadcast in 1985-86 over a thirteen week period. That was a television play can really make the streets go deserted. Ofcourse, it was also helped by the fact that at that time, Pakistani audiences only had access to one television channel. But, man, Tanhaiyaan was a first-class entertaining play. Haseena Moin has penned some great plays over the years. Pre-Tanhiyaan included Uncle Urfi and Unkahi, while post-Tanhaiyaan had Dhoop Kinaray… but the popularity of Tanhaiyaan is hard to match.

With access to the 15000 channels now and the garbage they are putting out along with Indian networks and their even more filthier garbage…I really reminisce of those days, where one network did the trick…
