Re: Has Sufi Poetry become outdated and irrelavant?
Uffoo....You guys don't think of Sufiyana kalaam as maths. It's not a concrete science in which 2+2=4 or 10 cut into 2 pieces makes 5 each. Every person interprets this stuff differently.
The sufi tradition of our Punjab is one that inspired such a beautiful culture and secular environment.
"Na main pooja paath jo keeti, na main ganga nahaya. Na main panj namazan parheya, te na tazba karkhaya. Bulleh Shah nu murshid mileya jihne aine jaa bakshaya"
One of my uncles was telling me about how all this sufi thought and such influenced such great things in Punjabi culture, like a Gurudwara has 4 doors (North, South, East, West) to show that anyone, of any faith can enter into god's house. That Dulla Bhatti fought against the mughals who were converting hindu people, he would protect these women, even get them married, etc.

This was all blasphemy to orthodox clergy and they didn't leave any chance to condemn such acts of sufis to impurify their purified version of religion.
Re: Has Sufi Poetry become outdated and irrelavant?
The use of word blasphemy is not a blasphemous act in itself
When Sufi poets are criticized for comparing their characters with God and when its believed that they got knowledge of Quran o hadees for condemning sharia, then how can concept like having 4 doors to gurdawara to allow all faiths and a Muslim fighting Muslim against conversion of Non-Muslim be acceptable?
Re: Has Sufi Poetry become outdated and irrelavant?
If you need to answer my argument from other thread in this thread, then why did you even open this thread?
I know you are talking about blasphemy again and again so you can get support and sympathy of liberals and seculars people around for your pov…
I am telling you the outdated thoughts of sufi poetry as follows
Taking women as little as human is in front of God…
Giving the examples of putridness of women
Categroizing men(not women) into three categories as follows
1)gays (hijjRay),
2)womanly( they use this metaphor for shameful man)
3)true men

May be our arguments overlapped, but this happens when two threads are running at a time on connected issues.

I'm saying what I believe and I don't need any support of seculars and liberals to certify my POV.

Re: Has Sufi Poetry become outdated and irrelavant?
it is not matter of love and association but the matter of unbiased opinion on whether some basic thoughts of sufis are outdated or not
everything become outdated, so its possible some of the thoughts would have been applicable to in past, but become redundant with time. Sub-continent poetry evolve from shama and parwana to contemporary issues, so there is possibility that some topics of Sufi poetry which were relevant in past or not relevant today and that to be examined with examples. Saying that overall sufi poetry become outdated is not justified IMO.
