^ That is not rocket science. Even gunja with a "heavy mandate" found out the hard way! I seriously don't see how any of our politicians like BB or Nawaz will truly end feudalism [they thrive by buying votes in virtue of the sold chaudhries]. Even bhutto sahab, who had a golden chance in the seventies, didn't initiate any real land reforms but instead attacked balochistan due to his power hungry greed. HE REALLY WAS A ******* WADERA AS MANY HAVE SAID HIM TO BE!
Yes, unfortunately that is quite true.

Much development is taking place in other cities of Pakistan. This will allow many people to move and seek work in these developing cities.

Yeah, in Lahore and Islamabad... Basically, the whole of the Pakistani popuation should migrate to these two other cities... Great idea!

unfortunately, that is true. People below the poverty line are sometimes bought out (or given some benefits for certain time...and then let go).
I think people should come out and protest. where is all the street power that we need to see, especially at this critical time.
Re: Has Musharraf outfoxed his foes?
Because people at the other end, especially the politicians, are insincere to begin with ! :)

Yes, and that is why you don't see large crowds on the streets of Pakistan coming out in support of the failed leaders of the past.
Re: Has Musharraf outfoxed his foes?
^ You have to realise that Mush has lost this Chess game by getting his key pieces removed one by one by his shear negligence and incompetancy. Still it is time for him to depart honorably by re-instating sacked judges, otherwise us ke saath buhat bura honay wala hay.
Re: Has Musharraf outfoxed his foes?
You would love to get BB back, wouldn't you? ALL in time to get your quota wali job???? :)

People have lost faith in the same old faces that had been tried before. That is one of the reason people are not coming out on to the streets in large numbers. The elections will confirm this,

Musharaf doesnt know the meaning of honor.. When he goes, it will be to the sounds of Boo's echoing in the air.
He will go like all dictators do...

That is so true. It is interesting to note that BB has not carried out any major rallies in Punjab, where 55% of the population of Pakistan live. She also halted all her anti-Musharraf rhetoric after Negrponte's visit, another pointer to the fact the Citizen President is very much here to stay.

Well, people have been predicting President Musharaf's demise for a long time now. Everytime he passes their given deadline, they change the goal post. It is quite telling that BB has stopped anti-Musharaf rhetoric, and knows she needs to work with him to get anywhere.

Well BB has now called for the Army to supervise the elections, which has caused quite a shock to those who believed all her previous rhetoric.

As Mush is no longer head of the Army, there is no reason for her not to

I reckon NATO should monitor elections. They are only across the border in afghanistan.

Security plan for BB’s address in Pindi finalised
RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi District Police have finalised a security plan to ensure maintenance of peace during the public rally address of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairwoman Benazir Bhutto at Liaquat Bagh tomorrow. Security arrangements have been finalised after the city district nazim granted permission to stage the rally.
The PPP had formally filed a request with the city district nazim to allow Bhutto to address a public rally at Liaquat Bagh on Thursday and had also sought for security measures for her.
The nazim has forwarded the request to the DCO and CPO for making arrangements.
Bhutto will address a public gathering tomorrow in Rawalpindi at Liaquat Bagh. Up to 4,000 additional police personnel and commandos have been called for security after the intelligence agencies and federal government warned against possible terror attacks on Bhutto.
Extraordinary security arrangements have also been made around the Rawalpindi city, Liaquat Bagh and Islamabad International Airport. staff report
