Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
^if you mean the 187, i love it. when i used liquid foundation it was my fav brush for getting a smoooth finish. i don't use liquid foundation anymore but i still use it to apply skinfinish (dark) on my cheeks to give a warm glow. the way it picks up powder and when you buff with it.. makes everything look really even and smooth.
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
^yes i do mean the MAC 187, i heard it's great for applying liquid foundation and that it gives an airbrushed look..and you just made it sound even more tempting. sigh okay after brummiebird posts pictures and a review of her sigma brushes, i think i'll order eye makeup brushes from sigma, and get the 187 from MAC
enkore on youtube does a very good review of them
do check it out!
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
^i've seen quite a few reviews of sigma brushes on youtube, i'd like to hear some from our trusty guppans too!
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
oh. then i hope brummbiebird will be able to help us out!
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
hi ladies,
I’ve taken some photos but they’ve come out a bit rubbish but i’ll upload them anyway. I’m not an expert in makeup by anyones standards but i really like the sigma brushes, they apply the colour well and no bristles have fallen out after i’ve washed them.
The brushes dont come in a makeup roll, u have to pay seperately for that , they come in an organza bag.
The MAC 224 blending brush is the only MAC eye brush i own. In comparison to the sigma one, the MAC is slightly shorter in length but the head is longer ie the actual bristles part is longer. i hope u can see that in the picture.

They also sent me a free ELf eyeshadow quad palette in shades of silver and grey. I’ve never tried the ELF stuff as i always thought that because its so cheap it’ll be rubbish but i am really surprised at how deep the colours are, really nice for a smokey eye effect.
I paid for them using PAYPAL and they arrived within 3 weeks.
if there are any questions please dont hesitate to ask.
:( what did you buy?!
also - no more shopping for you!
it's easy to get carried away buying stuff you don't really need because everyone else is - that's why i don't hang around in makeup comms anymore.
I got E.L.F professional brushes and they are great!
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
I was asking CE, lol.
I bought some ELF brushes like a year ago because lots of people were saying they were good. I think they were the worst brushes I have ever spent my money on. Harsh bristles, falling bristles, no good and picking up product....
I'm just grateful they were so cheap.
The regular brushes look similar but when it comes to the precision ones, I’m picky. The small angled brush looks incomparable to the MAC one. I use the 266 (208 is the same but smaller) for my liner; it’s slim, firm and precise (if you know how to use it properly). By the look of this, I doubt it could be a substitute if you like to get your liner perfect as I do and use that brush.
Also, if it’s there, what’s the 213 like? I find that other brushes that look the same just don’t have that density or firmness to really pick up the colour and pack it on.
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
HI Stoppit, i'll be honest, i dont wear alot of makeup on a daily basis, a bit of foundation and lipstick and i'm good to go. I wear contacts lenses and find that wearing eyemakeup and sitting in front a Pc at work just isnt a good combination :)
I havent tried the ss266 angled brush but in texture its not very firm but the SS 209 ( one on the end) is very firm and i would imagine you would get a pretty precise line with it.
there isnt a 213 equivalent but they do include a 239 eye shading brush, which is lovely and is my favourite one out of the bunch. its very dense and its got a good shape to it, would close ups of the brushes help????
I probably am the wrong person to comment on the comparability factor of the 2 brands as i dont own many of the MAC brushes :(. But they are pretty good value and do a good job. hope this helps.
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
it's cool, i was just giving my opinion on how they look :)
i've tried other brushes in the past but have always come back to the MAC ones, so I'm not going to try anymore anyways.
i'm sure the standard brushes are pretty good, just personally i think it's hard to beat MAC for some of the 'different' ones. like other companies have tried to copy the 187, it's just not the same.
the only other brush co. i like so far is Japonesque, I have a few of their brushes. very good quality and the ones i have don't have a true counterpart in MACs range.
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
thanks a lot for the review and pics brummiebird!
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
youre welcome :)
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
I bought the Sigma brushes and they are ok. Havnt got to use them much yet...at the moment they are just my spares brushes, I think I prefer my MAC ones.
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
^when you do use them, can you post a review please?
I used the ss190 foundation brush and didnt like it much, found it a bit flimsy. Then I used the ss209 with MAC blacktrack and I found the brush too thick. I think I would prefer to get the MAC 210. I have the MAC 266 which I use with blacktrack and I love it! I've also used the ss224 and it's ok for blending.
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
266 is awesome!
Lol, your review is pretty much what I predicted on the previous page.
Really ladies, if you want good brushes, you have to pay for them. I've not yet so far come across brushes that are low cost but can still deliver the same quality as MAC or better brands.
Re: Has anyone tried Sigma brushes?
sigh i think you're right stoppit
I was so tempted to buy the full brush set due to the raving reviews on youtube however although i know its cheap against the MAC but i can't get myself to spend almost £100 on a brush set. Im pretty sure the prices have gone up too.
I do have quite a few mac brushes but still wanted the sigma ones until i could afford more MAC ones. I think ill just save up and buy MAC brushes when i can afford them then I'll have no regrets if for example i was to buy Sigma and didn't like them very much so yeah.
Sometimes, i never know wether or not to trust some of the reviews as these days all the major beauty gurus get everything free!
