hrm, yeah, i guess i could do that too... but my family in pakistan are pretty busy with their everyday lives and its a big responsibility for someone. so i thought i'd try hina b.... and that $500 would be a reasonable price for it? she told me she could do it in $500 but the kaam on the shirt would be a little bit less heavy than what it is now.
^ Some designes are from nomi ansari, some are from hsy and some from nilofer, some are from deepak perwani and some from other designers...people should be careful...something like this happened to my cousins friend she ordered from some desi site and the people emailed her back telling her that they would give her discounts if she pays them half of the money at least in advance and when she went to take her dress it was made to look similar but nothing like the picture - you know when yo see a picture and find the dress appealing in it and like the work but some people just copy the design and use cheap materials and the embroidery is not the same either...
and there even these boutiques in karachi which have western branded/designer clothes being sold and they are so expensive as well but one day i went to see some bazaar my friends told me about and realized that people get all those branded clothes from that bazaar in which used clothes from abroad are sent and they cost from 100-500 rupees while those shops sell them for much expensive prices.
i think 500 is too much if she is making knock-offs to begin with
you could get the same thing for around 200 if you take it to a zari house, like those in paposh karachi
asimaan, i so wish i could... but the price listed on her website for the dress is 899 US... she knocked it down to 500 Cdn for me, so i dont know if she'd go lower... i so wish i had gone to pakiland for my shopping but it was too $$ and i needed to save my vacay days for the hmoon...
sara, yeah, this was meant to be my mehendi outfit. the gharara portion looks like that except she used jamavar and not crushed silk so its not too bad. but the kameez, the main bit, looks nothing like it! she took out the turqoise which i thought gave it that extra bit of oomph, and she did this really cheap kundan work on it. ugh. so stressed out right now!! hopefully i'll be seeing both her version of this and my shaadi lehenga in person this weekend- i've only seen pics so far... i guess i'll be REALLY stuck if both are fugly.

oh thats too bad, b/c i think shes over charging
one more thing-- the gharara looks like its jamavar not crushed silk, its been tied to give it the crinkly effect
i think they crushed the jamavar.... well at least thats what my mom said! haha
sara: i haven't seen my clothes or her yet... hopefully that should happen this weekend. she doesn't know i've seen pics and until i see them in person, i don't want to let her know. when i see them, i'll definitely ask her why she took such liberties- i didn't hire her as a designer. i hired her to make my design... ugh.
im gonna stop now- its getting me messed up again.
U know what i worked out how much 500 canadian dollars is in pounds. Its abt £230 pounds which isnt bad at all...i mean ive seen suits in Mehndi's, Seasons and Daminis that cost more than that.
She is not fake.she has a workshop but doesn’t have proper boutique..
My sister got her dresses done from hina B (on cuzins wedding)…
i agrees with sgc.My sister selected a outfit which id actually from nomi ansari collection…
but she made not exactly the same …cuz the work was not upto ,and the texture was differentand a lot of stuff like it supposed to be on chiffon but she made it on Jamavar …but it was ok…
Hina B also designs my sister saree ..which is one of the outfit from HSY…and again the saree was not exactly the same which my sis ordered there were vairiations…inregards of work ,texture etc.
At the end i must say she was not satisfied…
both her outfit cost 26000 rupees
Each dress cost Rs 12000 plus 2000 advance but wat happened at the end of the day she was unsatisfied…
I once shopped from hinab about a year or two ago. I paid for the dress around 150-200 Euro. It was a trouser of jamawar and a kameez with lots of kaam on it and dupatta. I had no prior experience of shopping online before, when I ordered the dress for Eid. I ordered it around 2 months before Eid, sent the money and she started work after the money arrived. First thing that ticket me off was, that it arrived a week after eid and and I had emailed her numerous times that I wanted it for eid and she had excuses like there weren't enough workers because of ramdhan or whatever. Then the quality of the material of the kameez wasn't what I expected, but the kaam done on it was good, even a little heavier than in the picture. Then before sending me she wanted to send the trouser in the same material the kameez was made of but I said I wanted jamawar, so after asking twice she made it out of jamawar but the really bad quality. However, the dressed was made exactly how I had sent the measurements. So, becauase of the delay and the bad quality, I didn't find it responsible of hinab to do that, so since then I never ordered again ever on the internet. Besides, I paid a lot of money and I could have gotten it for half the money in Pakistan, and on top the headache and it not arriving on time, made me believe she puts most of the money into her pocket and gets some cheap material, gets kaam on it and ships it when she wants. I even emailed her what I thought and that it was too late. Hope this helps.
thanks girls! i'm glad to hear of some firsthand accounts here... i emailed her again and told her that my khala lives in PECHS and could she come by and check out her work and see the quality etc... but i got no response. my first email asking if she could make it for me in $500 was replied to right away. dunno if its her internet connection, but im gonna pass on ordering it online.
