I thought it was anything that causes intoxication (nashaa) is haram. I dont know if cigarettes come under this.
Having said that, i think it is haram to willingly cause harm to yourself, which would make fags haram.

Hash/chars, is completely harmless, doesn't alter your judgement and makes one calm. so?

Cigarettes are makruh from my understanding...and to the guy that says cigarettes alter your mind thats nonsense...a head rush and being high are two completely different things...
I dont think anyone is going to debate whether weed is halal or not...its an intoxicant like alcohol...depending on what type of your weed you smoke...some weed can calm you down...in the UK the weed tends to make you giggly and happy...affecting your judgement...all weed affects your judgement but depending on the weed it can do it in different ways...
