Re: Happy Diwali
I think Diwali is always around October/November time, has nothing to do with Eid and the Islamic calender.
All I know is that it is the festival of lights and that people who celebrate light Diyah (sp) around there homes and that it also has something to do with the homecoming of Rama or is it Ravan (i think). Someone should google.
Edited.
There you go.

Re: Happy Diwali
Ram was king of ayodhya and ravan was a devil king of sri lanka , after killing ravan and his excile was over, Ram returned to ayodhya on this day .
Thats diwali.
Happy and prosperous diwali to you all.
Re: Happy Diwali
Yes, it is a lunar calendar. This year Diwali is on Oct 30, Nov 1, 2 and 3. For some reason Oct 30 is a non-Diwali day. Happy Diwali to all and come to my house to eat some mithaai.
Re: Happy Diwali
Why would you skip Oct 31st?

Re: Happy Diwali
It has to do with the lunar calendar. Not an expert on this but the weird thing is that due to skipping Oct 31, Nov 1 has two Diwali days on the same day. Apparently the 14 th lunar day and 15 th (called Amawasya) new moon night are on the same solar day (Nov 1.) Now you know.
