Answer :
The evidence in the Qur’aan and Sunnah indicates that celebrating birthdays is a kind of bid’ah or innovation in religion, which has no basis in the pure sharee’ah. It is not permitted to accept invitations to birthday celebrations, because this involves supporting and encouraging bid’ah. Allaah, may He be glorified and exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
*“Or have they partners with Allaah (false gods) who have instituted for them a religion which Allaah has not allowed…?” [al-Shoora 42:21]
“Then We have put you (O Muhammad) on a plain way of (Our) commandment. So follow that, and follow not the desires of those who know not. Verily, they can avail you nothing against Allaah (if He wants to puish you). Verily, the zaalimoon (wrongdoers) are awliyaa’ (protectors, helpers, etc.) to one another, but Allaah is the Wali (Protector, Helper) of the muttaqoon (pious).” [al-Jaathiyah 45:18-19]
“Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow not any awliyaa’ (protectors, helpers, etc.) besides Him. Little do you remember!” [al-A’raaf 7:3]*

oh by the way... the only thing we as Muslims should celebrate and take part in...is Eid al-adha and Eid al-fitr.

15 shabaan is to celebrate the birth of imam mahdi hundreds of years ago,,,,,if u dont believe he existed then no worries......

any way u deem halaal. i just got reminded by a friend that today is his birth so wished everyone happy 15 shabaan just like u wish anyone happy 12 rabi-ul-awwall...
but 12 rabi-ul-awwal is also prohibited i gathered from this discussion??
again if u think there's an idolatory issue in celebrating a loved figures B-day or remembering them for it...I got no issues with it.

Who cares what others celebrate. We have to start all the hard work to correct ourselves internally first.
If Shias want to pay respect to their Imans, then we should not bash them for doing so.
Just my opinion.

No ones bashing anyone.
We as Muslims 'HEAR AND OBEY'. When we seek and find the truth from quran and sunnah. We adhere to it.
When the truth comes to us, we don't become ignorant of it.
We act upon it!
If Allah ordered it of us to celebrate these innovative celebrations
Then fine. No problem.
BUT! He did NOT!
So it is our obligation to inform you of your wrong doings, and sincerely for the sake of Allah, direct you to what is right and better for you.
I advise you not take part in such acts for this is not part of the teachings of Islam.
May Allah guide us all.
