I didn't read all the pages of this thread, so forgive me if I repeat anything. But it is my honest belief that this move was VERY well thought out on Sharon's (and the rest of his crew) part. They arent that stupid. On the surface, you think why does it make sense to kill an old, paralyzed figurehead/spiritual leader, who is arguably the most cherished by the Palestinean people. Because after all, there was no doubt this would result in vows of violent revenge of unfathomable proportions. But, Israel knows this. Of course they do! It is precisely WHY they did this. You guys act like they are going to be surprised by the surge of suicide bombings that will come. Not in the least. Israelis would be dying for the next __ years anyways, why not write-off these revenge killings now as a casualty, and reap the benefits:
When Hamas strikes in full force, Israel will undoubtedly launch a blistering counteroffensive citing the ruthless actions of Hamas (which will happen in the near future) as the instigating factor to quell international condemnation. The Israeli army is infinitely more capable and powerful than Hamas, but has to abide by certain codes of conduct (yes, argue all you want about how they kill kids. but its still true) and maintain a reputation on the international political scene. Hamas has no such obligation. So Israel is ITCHING for an excuse to use its might. I think it will finally get it. And if its might is unleashed, the Palestinians will be like wounded gazelles surrounded by a pack of bloodthirsty lions.
Yes, this is all speculation on my part. But hey, it's gonna happen, just watch. So all of you guys who are getting excited and riled up with muslim pride, wishing that Hamas terrorizes the Israelis to no end...... be careful what you wish for.
