Halaal Nailpolish

Re: Halaal Nailpolish

bara'e meherbaani, aap zara yeh bata'e gi ke aapne kaha se ye suna ke nailpolish ka istemaal haram hai?

Re: Halaal Nailpolish

yes....perhaps.
and Allah can only tell whether or not her regular prayers with the nail polish were accepted or not.
maybe I'm an eternal optimist but I would like to believe that her intention was good so she will receive the reward for that worship, in shaa Allah.

as for hajj....I too would opt to remove the polish.....and the make-up.....and every other thing that is considered objectionable.....not just because the alims have said so, but out of respect for all the other pilgrims that may have beliefs different from mine.

Re: Halaal Nailpolish

Some of the folks criticising this nail polish argue that water should "flow" on the wudu areas . Going by that argument any type of lotion, cream, oil, or makeup is also haram since these create a film on the skin that prevents moisture from escaping. Simply put if i have moisturizer on my arms and run water over them during wudu, the water won't flow to my skin due to the presence of the invisible moisture film.
so if you are against this nail polish then you should also be against moisturizers otherwise you are making no sense.
Just saying..

Re: Halaal Nailpolish

^^Moisturizers (just like hair color and henna/mehndi someone mentioned which are just dyes) do not form a water proof barrier on the skin..nail polish does.

Yeah if you slather petroleum jelly or something like that on your arms and legs that will make a water proof barrier but I doubt anyone would do that.

Re: Halaal Nailpolish

all these things can be washed of with water, even petroleum jelly, Nail Polish on the other hand...

Re: Halaal Nailpolish

^ All petrolatum based products such as petroleum jelly and Bio oil (and any other product that has petrolatum on the ingredient list) are water proof. Petroleum jelly is even used for waterproofing items such as leather winter boots. Simply splashing and rubbing your body with water doesn't remove it. You have to use a mild cleansing agent to remove it. so soap would be needed for a proper wudu, if you are wearing a petrolatum based moisturizer/body oil.
