Barber is fine. That is a hair cut.
A styling salon? Hell no. When you can shampoo at home why the hell do you need to do it in a salon of all places?
Man I miss old fashioned Barbers. There used to be a guy on 82nd and Second. Went to him for 4 years. Now that was a good haircut.

but even 'barbers' would do things like scalp massage, trim ear and nose hair, put aftershave on, and powder back of neck. you could get lot lather shaves...this is not a new phenomenon.
and even the most basic cut at a most basic barber shop, they will atleast brush and comb your hair, brush off clippings from your face and neck etc.

Yeah and what does that have to do with getting some guy to shampoo your hair and then massage it?
There is a very big difference in being clean which is the nose hair and ear hair triming and going specifically to a salon to get scrubs and facials.

no issue with someone cutting your nails and filing them, just like there is no issue with someone cutting your hair and combing it

Pedicures are sooooo good, men are missing out on the good stuff when it comes to pedicures (manicures in US are blah, the ones in Pakistan are awesome)… pedicure involves a foot massage

If a guy cant do a neat job of keeping his nails neat, then theres no harm in getting a professional mani-pedi job once in a while, as long as they dont get the shiny transparent top coat on their nails. Ew

Honestly, even I don’t go to salons for manicures here (in US), they’re awful awful here… I don’t get my cuticles cut (ladies, cuticles should be pushed back and not cut… can lead to infections) and I skip nailpolish so whats the use of paying for a manicure. I just do the clipping, filing and buffing myself at home… pedicures at the salon/spa on the other hand are heavenly :hinna:
Same here, I also don’t get the color because of Namaz and the saloon wali gives me wierd looks on not understanding why the hell I am paying so much then. But I do go for monthly mani and padi sessions, it’s kindda relaxing and take your mind out of things for some time. Here in NYC, near union square there are some amazing saloons :k:

as far as cutting hair properly, sure, with trimmers around anyone can clip on an attachment and give himself a buzz cut.
one thing for sure, one can defintely give himself a good shave, yet barbershops have been providing shaving services for ages, sadly now its a little hard to find, but guyus could shave at home without a problem, so why go to the barber for a shave?
