^ i don't think it's pure silk. it's a georgette blend so the cotton shalwar would probably look okay. besides, the longer your shirt is, the less you see/show...

Re: Gul Ahmed Summer 2011 Collection
I ordered these suits this spring:

minus the lace gala. Just simply stitched in an A-line style with piping for every day wear.

with sleeves. I think this one is my favourite. I couldn’t tell in the photo that it came with pink accents in the fabric which I love. It is also silk cotton which feels so nice!

with sleeves. Another silk cotton print. I had it stitched as a long, straight top like in the photo, but wishing I can stuck with A-line as it suits my shape better. I love the print. I do find that even this dark colour needs a slip if your planning to be out in bright light.

with short sleeves that have the same pleated satin as the hem of the dress. I didn’t realize that the design down the front was fancy work, so I wasn’t expecting that, but it is so beautiful…they did such a lovely job. My only complaint is that the fabric is pretty see through, so I had to give it to my local tailor to stitch a slip.
and this one

I got it done with sleeves and an asymmetrical neckline. The colour was a little more olive than I was expecting, but I still love it. I’m having a slip made for this one as well since it’s pretty see through in outdoor light.
I’ve never ordered lawn suits from Pakistan before. My mother-in-lawn warned me against buying lawn, but I get so warm during the summer I really wanted light cotton suits to wear and was really happy with the Gul Ahmed prints and fabric quality. I did think my Lakhani suit was a little less see through though.

UmMohsin, thanks for sharing your views and real life experience, it helps alot. pls put up pics of the actual outfits that you have made, because, as you said, the colors look very different in prof photography. thanks and happy wearing!!!

I will post them once they are back from my tailor. The of them are getting slips made and one is just now drying. Insha'Allah, when I have them back I will post pics all at once. :)
I will say though that the person who had them made for me had them made very faithfully to the design in the photos and the colours, with the one exception, were also very like the photos.
Re: Gul Ahmed Summer 2011 Collection
It seems like the biggest drawback of Gul ahmeds is that they’re see through…at least this year..
two years ago I ordered 3 GAs, one is see through and the rest aren’t…
Re: Gul Ahmed Summer 2011 Collection
@UmMohsin, who did you order thru?
Re: Gul Ahmed Summer 2011 Collection
I ordered through Impressions in Style on facebook. The only problem I had was a misunderstanding about the measurements. I sent her my body measurements and specified that they were body measurements (not garment measurements) and the dresses came back stitched to my exact body measurements. Thankfully, there was enough fabric left on the inside to open them up enough to be wearable. Let's just say I can't afford to get any bigger or have anymore babies! :) Anyway, it's definitely and issue that can be resolved in any future orders, but if you use her just make sure you both understand what measurements are expected/given.
