Satiyan jo Asthan: Ailing women flock to Rohri

Many stories and myths shroud the graves at the Satiyan jo Asthan, which is located on the left bank of River Indus in Rohri right next to Sukkur.

Legend has it that seven women, who came with the convoy of Islamist hero Mohammad Bin Qasim, chose this hilly area as their home. Others claim that the women came even before the conqueror set foot here.

Raja Dahir, the Hindu ruler at that time, set his unholy sights on the women, who were unmarried and scared about protecting their honour. They prayed to God to save them and, as the tale goes, were sucked into the very earth where they were kneeled in prayer. Today, the site is marked by a cave-like passage. On top of this cave are several graves, seven of which are prominent and intricately carved.

Re: Guess the Place -Part 2

Off-topic:

Isn’t ‘Islamist’ a word with negative connotation introduced as a counterpart to the word ‘Zionist’.
Zionist is largely considered a dirty word.

Islamist is used in two ways I guess.
Firstly, to separate the militant types from the regular ‘Islamics’.
Secondly, to nefariously bundle or defame regular Muslims under the convenient and negative umbrella label of ‘Islamist’.

Did you mean ‘Muslim hero’ or ‘militant Muslim hero’.
If ‘Islamist’ has negative meaning, then how can you use ‘Islamist’ and ‘hero’ together.

I know this is confusing. :chai:

Re: Guess the Place -Part 2

Its used by the writer of article and I don’t know his intentions about MBQ. BTW, MBQ is not considered as hero in Sindh with consensus. Sindhis have been labelled as traitors and followers of Raja Dahir due to this attitude. One theory about these graves say that these graves relate to ladies from Allafi tribe who were in refuge of Raja Dahir and these graves created when Arab conquered Alor (today’s RohRi where these graves situated) and they reached the ladies.

Islamia college peshawar was founded by Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum, who is commonly called The Sir Sayyed of Sarhad and his sincere colleagues in 1913. Islamia College Peshawar is the best example of endowments. According to the Board of Trustees, the College, is spread over 300 acres of land. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah visited this College in 1936, 1945 and 1948. Quaid-e-Azam who became life long honorary member of the Khyber Union ICP in 1936 made the College one of the heirs of his property in 1939.
