Group 1: New Zealand v West Indies at Pallekele, Oct 1, 2012

Re: Group 1: New Zealand v West Indies at Pallekele, Oct 1, 2012

exactly what I was thinking.

Re: Group 1: New Zealand v West Indies at Pallekele, Oct 1, 2012

I was talking about the last two matches overall... the last match against SL, they did get to 174 to take the game to super-over.

Re: Group 1: New Zealand v West Indies at Pallekele, Oct 1, 2012

After the 15th over...I was thinking that NZ would win anyways,,,but this is T20...very unpredictable...like Gul did on the other day against SA... :D

Now a greatly responsiblity lies on England's shoulder to win the upcoming match tonight... :D

Re: Group 1: New Zealand v West Indies at Pallekele, Oct 1, 2012

Aren't we being too harsh on Hafeez?

  • Indian batting is much stronger than NZ's
  • Pakistan has mental or psychological issues against India and Australia but not against other teams, so we might have also defended this small total against NZ.
  • 130+/- totals are just not good enough - you are likely to lose 80% of the time, Windies did very well to tie this game but with 3 overs to go, NZ really should have won it easily

^ I guess because other guys get cue from captain and when you captain has played dot ball after dot ball (even early on when there was not much pressure), rest will capitulate too. Problem is that we do no have any senior to guide younger batsmen through this. Only senior we have is "Afridi" who himself need a guidance. Uss ka hath paker ker road cross kerwani parhti hai ...

Re: Group 1: New Zealand v West Indies at Pallekele, Oct 1, 2012

Senior is missing for sure.

Still I think we don’t need to analyze the Sunday game too much. Hafeez has shown a lot of grit even in UAE against. Aussies, Against saffies at Colombo to open bowling with Raza and then restrict them to 130.

I honestly think the loss against India was good since this way Hafeez 11 won’t think they are invincible. Now they will hunker down and fight against Aussies :insh:

Re: Group 1: New Zealand v West Indies at Pallekele, Oct 1, 2012

Regardless of how we connect this with Pakistan’s match, this much is clear: New Zealand lost this themselves. :hoonh: Near the very end, when Oram was batting, I’d have given a 90% chance to New Zealand to seal it. In fact, they had an opportunity to finish before the 19.4 over to go ahead England’s run rate. Instead, they horribly left it till the very end, and deservedly went out.

And were it not for Ross Taylor’s 6 in the last over, it would have ended much sooner. At the end of it all, this was one game neither team deserved to win. West Indies for faltering their start, losing wickets regularly and ending up with a below par score. And New Zealand for playing like scardy cats and caving in with half their team intact. They should have 100% finished everything off in the 19th over. 100%.

Feel for NZ. But this time they lost it themselves. A match they should have won with over to spare at least.

Windies celebrated like they just won the freaking WC

Way to go Dudes
