All I can say is our socities need some real rethinking. Both in terms of civil structure, religion, economic redistribution of wealth and so on....
I suppose that Western nations have there own problems, but still this is beyond stupid

^ well, if they listened it would. These guys aren't ready to listen to anything different. Social workers, and teachers, etc go into these regions to improve things and they get shot at if they try to change things too much.
Like I said, the military needs to go in there with guns. This is getting to be extreme, and deserves extreme treatment by the government.
Unless the perpetrators are of influencial background. Then of course the govt wont want to get involved.

Why should the military go there, and do what? Why not let that area secede from Pakistan and become an independent country? Let them rape each other. These things happen in India and in other countries, but the reason it doesn’t happen that much in India is because education and literacy is improving day by day there. In Pakistan, we want nukes and not schools. These remote regions of southern Punjab don’t have access to even clean water, do you think that sending military there is the answer? These areas also happen to be a pretty steady supply of Mujahideen. There ways are not going to change by sending social workers in their region. They don't like outside laws (Islamic or Dictatorial) imposed on them.

These events are the result of a vaccuum in the area..as Sheikh Madhanee said those areas don't even have running water..what is the government..and what does it mean to them? Anyway at least an FIR has been lodged this time...which is an improvement over what has happened in previous cases, also actually going to the police is a step forward ..( in the Mukhtaran Mai case the person who spread the story was the local Maulvi..he was almost chased out of the village for spreading the story)

I don't see what good registering the case with police would do. It's not like the Pakistani police is going to do anything to help the victim and her family, unless they happen to be loaded with money.

^ oh definately. it happens in pakistan, atleast its reported one way or another. if it happens in arab state.. no one wud know. they are still the worse nation of all. atleast we dont claim to be the protector of islam and then do worse things while justifying it through religion.

An FIR is a big step..previously the police refuse to file FIRs in these cases.. if there is a formal case the police can act..as per normal rules of when they are ordered too..

Ethnicity is irrelevant. Arabs are not worse, nor we, or Indians or whoever. This is simply a matter of lack of education.

Well you know I’ve worked in Bahrain for a while (I am born and raised in Canada) so I have been exposed to the worst of Arabs. Yes there are jahil arabs. I would say on average they can be very racist.
I didnt get it myself not being all that dark, but some of the south Indians in our office got it real bad… But at the same time I have seen the worst here and anybody can be just as bad. It really is’nt a function of ethnicity. There are good and bad in every race.

Only daily times is carrying the news. No other Pakistani paper is carrying it and if there was a press conference, it should be in other news papers too. it is a big news as it made it to the Indian media atleast.
