yes french have this custom…guys at uni greet us by kissing us on the cheeks, and they shake hand with guys, cause kisssing for guys is considered too gay:D
last day at school, one of my friend kissed me on the cheek, but he was not well shaven and my hair stayed around his face 
we were all so much laughing…ahaa, a trick not to let me go…
