Malik Riaz doesnt have any friends, he buys anything that comes in his way. Its possible that the government can use him to influence the media houses plus there are allegations on the government of using secret funds on journalists/anchors. For the past few days as we can see the media ia taking easy on the government as well.

you are right, why make friends, when he can easily buy anyone, just like he bought defence lawyers to influence the judiciary
