I don't know what midwestern boonie town you're in, but wide leg jeans started coming in last year here in LA and they are EVERYWHERE this fall. Every catalog, store, etc has started carrying them. I love my skinny jeans and won't be throwing them out, but if you want to be on trend, then get a pair of wide leg jeans or pants. Wear them with a fitted or tight top and toss on a scarf, some wedge/platform shoe and you're ready to go. As a matter of fact, I went to Chanel last week, and they had block heels (oh, the horror) as their latest shoe, to go with wide leg pants. When skinny jeans came in three years back, a lot of people didn't accept them at first. Just watch and see, and soon everyone will be wearing them.
