I am a die hard fan - in fact a fulltime MILLAT fan of pakistani movies - the ones that were made in the 60s and the early 70s… :love:
All the laitesht model booliwood filamz can taail lainay gai as compared to those superb films . Arman , Chahat, Darshan, Do Raha, Chand aur Chandni, Chakori ..

**-Inteha (1999, Meera/Humayun Saeed, Dir: Samina Peerzada) – this one is hard to find, but possibly the most slick Pak film yet.

-Deewaney Tere Pyar Key (1998, Gia Ali/Moamar Rana, Dir: Syed Noor) – Above average storyline and some awesome music. Nice debut by the lead pair!**

-Laaj (2003, Talat Hussein/Zara Sheikh, Dir: Rauf Khaled) – A period piece which is realistically done. Has an awesome climax!

And there are more and I guess I’d add 'em to the list sometimes later. But try getting these ones – though I doubt you’ll find the DVD print; they mostly sell on VCDs.

Two thumbs up for Inteha and Deewaney terey payar key, Very nice commercial movies though not very recent…

I agree Pakistani film industory produces lots of crap, All punjabi movies are crap and an insult to the common and atristic sense of audiance…

But as the Urdu film industory is in ICU, people are genuinely worried and some are working for revival.

Yet situation is not so bad as you percieve..
In Pakistan, there is general despise present among citizens regarding film industory, but despite that the situation is not so bad…

In a year only 5,6 urdu movies are released In pakistan out of which, 1 or two are above avg, and rest are bellow avg. Still the above avg does not make any impact on people’s mind as they are easily forgoton. So the problem is both the Quantity and Quality.

For example two years ago, The film by Ajab Gul “Khoye ho tum kahaan” was released, it was a big hit. It was sound both technicall and story wise smooth with some good acting by Babar Ali, Ajab Gul, and meera. It was a murder mystery. and a good one.

Now the next year I saw an indian movie copy of that same ^^ Paksitani movie staring Akshey kumar, Bobby deol and Amesha patel. The movie bombed at box office

So to cut the story, bollywood make some more than 100 movies a year out of which hardly 4,5 make sense, rest have nothign new to talk about they are just the replica of crap produced earlier
