but then we can say the same for any situation at work where people from both genders are required to work together. why single out lunch? For example, travelling together for business or working together on a specific project as a two person team. these situations will demand the two people to be “alone together”. and the possibility of quality talk time and getting insights into personal lives is always there. if you are a professional, you cannot just say no to avoid such situations.

The difference probably is that people choose to have lunch with the other person but not necessarily choose to go with the co-worker … unless of course you have pulled a few strings subconsciously to rig such situations where you have to go out as a pair. It is the enemy within us. We say oh it is business … but we might not say … I had a choice to refuse, but I didn’t. What we’ll say instead is “it’s not as if I chose to go” … LOL.

Deep down inside people have to admit there is something risque in doing this and that is part of the appeal. In reality nothing comes of it … but the thoughts do wander and the spouse does have a right over our wandering thoughts don’t you think?
