The girl is reading too much into the story. The guy never he said he “likes” pimples; he doesn’t feel a particular attraction toward them. It’s just that he is able to look past them. A girl could have a blemish-free complexion and a guy may not be able to overlook her height or her weight or her skin color or some other aspect of her appearance or other things like her personality/background etc etc. The story about the guy is not so much about pimples as it is about his preference for girls who wear little to no makeup.
