I try to get something for everybody, even extended family. And normally I begin shopping months before the trip:) Sometimes I just buy something that I like or I know that someone will like whenever I see it. My sister on the other hand believes in giving gifts only to those she is very close to, or only people she likes. Whereas, I even buy gifts for some people whom I don't like that much or at all, just because I believe it would seem rude and would be hurtful to leave them out, when everyone else is getting a gift.
The nature of the gift depends on the age and personality of the recepient. But I love the idea of gift giving.
