we gift wrap stuff at weddings..cute gift boxes,gold tissue for wrap etc etc...but we take the gifts to susraal house( rather than doin the gujrati style of display in halls..)that way anyone thr gets to see,but not too many ppl so ur not showing off..but still get to do ur own khushi..

i personally think its nyce to gift wrap, others sometimes think its a display of wealth or showing off...although i have been known to make creative packaging from scrap and on a budget too...i use lots of glittery tulle and left overs from wedding dress materials etc...
