GETTING DIVORCED AND ALIMONY IN USA

Re: GETTING DIVORCED AND ALIMONY IN USA

If you don't have a kid, then I think alimony would be tough. My aunt got divorced here in the US, with 1 boy. THey were separated for a while. She didn't ask for alimony or child support-- she felt that if she truly did not want to be with him, she would want nothing to do with him. Also, he doesn't see his son. Now she is happily remarried- she does not have to deal with her ex at all, he can't interfere in her new life. Why do you want to be paid alimony? if you are no longer with your husband, he shouldn't have to pay for you unless you have no other support (no family, no career). By all means, ask for child support if you feel it is necessary, but with regards to alimony, I think you should ask for your meher or whatever, keep your stuff, go back to your maternal home, and try to start your life over again. Or like MO3, split the assets. You don't want to be forever tied to this guy through alimony. I'm very sorry this happened to you, and i wish you the best.
