LOL... the West keeps on thinking that Putin can be trusted and be a partner to them for some reason. Russian forces are not withdrawing immediately from Georgia as per the ceasefire; indeed, Russia is now accused of systematically destroying Georgian military facilities and infrastructure during the ceasefire (destroying arms dumps, destroying airfields, mining army bases).
And Russia's foreign minister has now said that the world should forget about Georgia's territorial integrity. I wonder if Russia will try and annex South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
The UN would be powerless. Russia's veto on the UNSC will enable Russia to veto any condemnation of it: and Russia's friends in the General Assembly can paralyze actions there.
