^^ Alright, I admit, I do think they are a big deal which is why I keep ranting about that drama. I cried when I saw them in Pakistan and that drama made me cry too. There are so many different levels of discrimination in Pakistan and it’s shocking to see any group of people treated with such disgust … be it hijras, women, pathan refugees in Karachi, etc. ![]()

Well, do u see any hijras as a professional in Pakistan?. They are all living in the slumps as third class citizens in a third world country. When are we gonna educate our public to stop ridiculing them and help them come part of the mainstream society? Probably, when we start thinking of them as a big deal.

oh bhai meray, kabhi baat samajhnay kee koshish bhee kiya karain. aap human rights kay aakhri chashm-o-chiragh naheen hain.
my point is that people are not going to change their attitude towards hijras regardless of how many dramas/films you make on them because of the taboo associated with them and because it is difficult to arouse the same kind of feelings for them as bad as that maybe. on the other hand, if they showed a proper version of the story of Mukhtaran Mai, people will definitely be enraged and this is what PTV etc want to avoid.
Therefore, PTV has and will show dramas on hijras pretty openly but not so on themes which could actually anger the public and get a reaction out of them.
Haan aap tau jaisay hijroN kay pehlay chashm-o-charaagh hain.
Waisay buraa naa manaana. I think we are a long way to go in accepting minorities in Pakistan. I know what you meant.
