gender roles and inequality

Re: gender roles and inequality

Oh gawd. The USA is in high growth, and Pakistan has much more inflation than USA. I don't agree with you, and I don't think you know your economics too well. I think you're pulling strings to justify that women should sit at home, and be your maid, while you get to do whatever you really want with your life. I'm sorry, but women have that freedom too. Accept the fact, its a reality now. Kiss my jhooti, if you don't like to accept facts.

Re: gender roles and inequality

And now with paternity tests, the below is no longer a valid argument anymore. Hence no need for women to be stepped on. :)

If a woman was allowed to have as many sexual partners as her heart desired, then there would always be a question as to the paternity of the child.

I can throw paternity id's and rights in the face of men, with paternity tests. Here, take your darn paternity and get steppin'. Women are here to stay in the workforce, and they can do whatever they want to do with their lives, and they have the freedom of choice. throws paternity issues in the face of male GS guppies

Re: gender roles and inequality

Exactly mamaof3, and its feminism that allows you to make the choice to stay at home and live your life the way you want. Otherwise, before you do as your husband says. Some husbands enslave at home. Some husbands enslave their wives to do actual outside work, like work in sweat shops or in fields, or even in the western white collar world, in an office.

Either way, a woman is not getting what she wants. I’m glad you have the freedom to live your life the way you want. That’s feminism at work. :k:

Re: gender roles and inequality

My my... such a bright collection of minds... i'm glad to see that my first post to this forum has been so "warmly" received.

First of all...

*And now with paternity tests, the below is no longer a valid argument anymore. Hence no need for women to be stepped on. *

Did they have paternity tests 100 years ago? Of course not... the paternity question was a big issue even 50 years ago. Behaviours which have evolved over several centuries can't be changed "overnight" with the onset of DNA testing.

Then again PyariCGudia... the availability of a paternity test shouldn't be taken as something sanctioning promiscuous behaviour on the part of women.

Secondly ... in reprise to parissenoor...

Try paying a visit to the hospital nearest to you... when you get there, go to the Labour room. Ask one of the house surgeons there, or a Postgraduate Registrar about how many baby girls have been born as compared to baby boys over the past few months. In Rawalpindi General Hospital, only 26 baby boys were born in the month of December, as compared to a total of 344 baby girls.

Food for thought eh?

sory in my place human make 105 baby boy for each 100 baby girl

because abortion for gender issue is forbidden by law

Re: gender roles and inequality

You always misunderstood me and attacked me from the very first day since I entered this website. I still don't understand why?

Re: gender roles and inequality

Unfortunately our historical records are just 2500 years old. By then gender inequality had already been well established and man was already dominating in every sphere of life. Before that what happened is unclear. Definitely research is needed on this topic. But modern laws are evolving to strive for gender parity and to remove discrimination. So things have to go a long way. But it will take a long long time since cultural changes take place slowly.

In India, in order to bring this equality, there was an effort to make cumpulsory reservation of seats for women in the parliament and I strongly supported this idea since when more and more women are in the parliament then they will be in a position to enact laws favourable to this concept and accelerate this process but unfortunately the male dominated society succeeded in thwarting this attempt.

**sory in my place human make 105 baby boy for each 100 baby girl

Who on earth is talking about abortions?

I'm simply quoting facts and figures from an ordinary hospital labour room...

Re: gender roles and inequality

Oh I'm not sanctioning promiscuous behavior by any circumstances. In fact, the whole "well we dont know who the father is" argument that is used to support non-promiscuous behavior for women is also used to support promiscuous behavior among men. Women don't need a maternity test. Its obvious who the mom is, so many people use the same paternity test argument to justify double standards.

My point is promiscuous behavior is unfair to your life partner. Period. Whether you are a guy or not. Paternity and Maternity identity is not an issue any longer, and paternity tests can't be used to justify that its okay for the man to have the upper hand in anything.
